====Biographical Note====
Matriculated as a scholar of [[education::Magdalene College, Cambridge]] 1549, but died soon afterwards, before graduating.

====Books====
Barker's probate inventory includes 62 titles, and ca.75 volumes in all, valued at £2 6s 7d (from a total estate valued at £25 19s 4d). The books are largely in [[language::Latin]], with some [[language::Greek]] and a [[language::French]] one, covering [[subject::theology]], [[subject::classics]], [[subject::medicine]] and other topics; he presumably came from a relatively affluent background, to have so many books as an undergraduate.
