Biographical Note

Of Bayhall, Kent, Amherst was the eldest son of Richard Amherst. In 1627 he married Dorothy, daughter of John Cradock of Luddesdowne. The pair had a son, William, 1641/2-1663 and a daughter, Dorothy.

Books

Books with his armorial stamp survive. The stamp seems also to have been used by William.
