Nicholas ABYTHELL d.1586

Biographical Note

Born in Calais, France. BA Trinity College, Cambridge 1552/3, fellow 1555, MA 1556. In around 1576 he went to the English College at Douai where he became a canon, DD and a professor.

Books

Abythell's probate inventory includes over 40 books, valued at £5 3s 5d (from a total estate valued at £38 8s 8d). The books are mostly in Latin, with some English, and Greek. Subjects covered include theology, history, lexicography and mathematics. The full inventory is edited as Leedham-Green no.153 (see full citation below).
