====Biographical Note====
BA [[education::New College, Oxford]] 1650, [[occupation::fellow of New College Oxford|fellow]] the same year; he was listed for expulsion for refusing to submit to the parliamentary visitation of 1648, but this seems not to have been enforced.

Hutton's probate inventory lists ca.150 books valued at [[monetary value::£2 18s 7d]], edited as ''PLRE'' 165. The books include a typical wide range of texts, including much [[subject::theology]], [[subject::grammar]] and [[subject::philosophy]], but also [[subject::literature|literary]] texts, and books on [[subject::history]] and current affairs, [[subject::alchemy]], [[subject::science]] and [[subject::classics]]. A little over a quarter of his books are noted as being English imprints.
