John DAKINS d.1566

Biographical Note

Of Derbyshire. BA St John's College, Cambridge 1560, fellow there from 1560, MA 1563. He is recorded as holding extreme puritan views.

Books

Dakins's probate inventory includes 46 books, valued at £2 3s 3d (from a total estate valued at £7 6s 6d). The books are mostly in Latin, with some English and Hebrew, with a predominance of theology alongside some philosophy, classics, and other topics. Administration of his estate was granted to his brother William, vicar of Ashwell, Hertfordshire. The full inventory is edited as Leedham-Green no.123 (see full citation below).
