Sir James PRIMROSE of Carrington, 3rd Baronet, 1st Viscount Primrose, ca.1680-1706
Biographical Note
Son of Sir William Primrose, 2nd Baronet (d.1687). He was elected M.P. for the county of Edinburgh in 1703 and was created Viscount Primrose in the peerage of Scotland in the same year.
Books
Used an engraved bookplate (Franks 24174): Sr. James Primerose of Carington Baronet. The bookplate dates between 1687 when he succeeded as 3rd Baronet and 1703 when he was created Viscount Primrose. The extent and disposition of his library is not known.
