James GARDINER d.1723

Biographical Note

Gardiner's origins and early career have not been established; he is confused in some sources with the man of the same name who was a prebendary of Lincoln (and son of James Gardiner Bishop of Lincoln), and who d.1732. This Gardiner was rector of St Michael Crooked Lane, London, and he features in ESTC as the author of several sermons published between 1696 and 1713.

Books

Gardiner's library, together with parts of two other libraries, was auctioned in London, beginning 24 June 1724; no catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in the Daily Courant and Daily Post.
