Biographical Note

Son of Sir Edmund Poley of Badley, Suffolk, MP. BA Jesus College, Cambridge 1673, and fellow; admitted at the Middle Temple 1673 (barrister 1678). MP for Eye, and other Suffolk constituencies, 1689-1707.

Books

Both Henry and his younger brother Edmund used engraved armorial bookplates, dated 1703 and 1707 (Franks 23761-2/23764/*190/*243/*254; some of Edmund’s may be Henry’s reworked). In his will, he made various monetary legacies to family and friends, and left the residue of his estate to Edmund.
