Edward ELIOT 1684?-1722

Biographical Note

Son of William Eliot of Cuddenbeak, Cornwall, naval captain, and a descendant of Sir John Eliot. Matriculated at Exeter College, Oxford 1703 but did not graduate; he inherited the estate at Port Eliot, Cornwall from his cousin in 1702. MP for St Germans, and for other Cornish boroughs, between 1705 and 1722; he also held several local administrative posts.

Books

Eliot used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 9702); the extent and disposition of his library are not known.
