Edward BLOUNT d.1726

Biographical Note

Third son of Sir George Blount, 2nd bart, of Sodington, Worcestershire, a member of a Roman Catholic gentry family. He inherited an estate at Blagdon, Devon from his mother, Mary Kirkham. He was a friend of the poet (and fellow-Catholic) Alexander Pope, and correspondence between the two survives; he was also involved in seeking to have legislation passed to relieve the financial pressures faced by Catholics.

Books

Blount used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 2886). The extent and disposition of his library is not known; his will has no mention of books, which would have passed, with the rest of his personal estate, to his widow.
