====Biographical Note====
Born in [[place of birth::London]], son of [[family::Daniel Bellamy]], [[occupation::lawyer]]. He matriculated at [[education::Trinity College, Cambridge]] in 1736, but was not awarded an MA degree until 1759. He began publishing popular devotional works around 1740 and after becoming ordained he became [[occupation::vicar]] of St Stephen's, [[location::St Albans]] in 1749. He held other ecclesiastical positions before becoming [[occupation::chaplain]] of [[location::Kew]] and [[location::Petersham]], where he remained for the rest of his life. His ''Family preacher'' (1776) was one of his more popular publications; he also wrote some poetry.

====Books====
Bellamy used at least 3 versions of an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 2152-4), including some giving his place of residence as Trinity College. The extent of his library is not known. His brief will, in which he left all his property to his wife, has no mention of books.
