Matriculated at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge 1545, where he was still an undergraduate at the time of his death.

Levyns's probate inventory includes 23 titles, in 26 volumes, valued at 8s (from a total estate valued at £3 6s 4d). The books are largely in Latin, with a little Hebrew and English, with a mixture of theology and classics alongside some other subjects.
