Biographical Note
Born in Middlesex, though descended from a Welsh gentry family; he was apparently educated at home before entering Lincoln's Inn in 1721. He inherited an estate at Pitshanger, Middlesex and a sizeable income from his father, but moved to Turrick, near Aylesbury in 1740. He lived a mostly retired life, devoting his energies to gardening, reading, and writing poetry; he was noted as a writer of sonnets, but also published editions of Shakespeare and other English authors. He was elected a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 1745.
Books
Edwards used an engraved armorial bookplate, describing himself "of Lincoln's Inn" (Franks 9625). The extent and disposition of his library is not known.
