Richard WARRE ca.1649-1730
Biographical Note
Warre's birth and education have not been traced; he had a career as a civil servant, being under secretary to a succession of secretaries of state between 1688 and 1713.
Books
Warre's will distributed the bulk of his estate around his wife and children; he anticipated the sale of his library by directing that if two South Sea bonds failed to meet his debts and funeral expenses, "let my books satisfy such deficiency". His library, "consisting of above 4000 volumes, relating to the history, antiquities and constitution of Great Britain, France and Ireland", was auctioned in London, beginning 2 March 1731.
