John HILL 1612/13-82

Biographical Note

Son of Guy Hill, of Bristol. Matriculated at Lincoln College, Oxford, but no graduation recorded. Vicar of Bitton, Gloucestershire 1637, of Elburton 1643 Rector of Newton Ferrers, Devon 1652 (ejected 1661); licensed to preach as a presbyterian at Exeter, 1672.

Books

Hill's will refers to “all my French books”; we do not know the extent of his library, and his whole estate was valued at only £25 5s.
