Richard IBBETSON 1679-1731
Biographical Note
Son of James Ibbetson of Ledstone, Yorkshire, gentleman. BA Oriel College, Oxford 1699, fellow 1700, MA 1701. Rector of Hadleigh, Suffolk 1714, of Lambeth 1718, prebendary of Exeter 1716, archdeacon of Exeter 1726.
Books
Ibbetson's brief will has no mention of books; all his estate was bequeathed to his wife Dorothy. His library was auctioned in London, beginning 25 November 1731; no catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in the Daily Journal as "containing several thousands of rare books, in many languages and faculties".
