John ELLIS d.ca.1730

Books

The library of "Col. John Ellis, deceas'd" - who has not been identified - was auctioned in London, beginning 16 March 1731. Contemporary advertisements reveal that the sale of the library was mandated in order to pay debts; it was described as "a very valuable collection of French and English books, of the most eminent ancient and modern authors".
