Sir John HOLLAND, 2nd baronet ca.1669-ca.1724
Biographical Note
Son of Thomas Holland of Bury St Edmunds, from whom he inherited estates in 1698; in 1701 he inherited the family baronetcy and Quidenham Hall, Norfolk from his grandfather. Matriculated at Christ's College, Cambridge 1685, but did not graduate. MP for Norfolk 1701-10, where he was an active parliamentarian on the Whig side, involved in the impeachment of Henry Sacheverell. He was also comptroller of the royal household, 1709-11. He was succeeded by his son William who became the 3rd baronet, but he died not long afterwards, in 1729, when the baronetcy became extinct.
Books
Holland's library was sold by retail sale at Quidenham soon after the death of the 3rd baronet, beginning 13 April 1730.
