Pawlet or Paulet ST JOHN or SAINT JOHN 1714/5-1775
Biographical Note
Son of Pawlet St John, rector of Yelden, Bedfordshire and canon of Hereford. BA St John's College, Cambridge 1735, fellow 1737, MA 1738, BD 1746; vicar of Melchbourne, Bedfordshire from 1742.
Books
St John used an engraved armorial bookplate, "St John Pawlet Esqr.", Franks 25972 (unless, possibly, it was made for his father of the same name, who died in 1732). The extent of his library is unknown; in his will, most of his property, including all his personal goods, was left to be divided between his two daughters.
