John FORTESCUE 1700-1776
Biographical Note
Sone of George Fortescue of Tavistock and Spridleston, Devon, from whom he inherited the Spridleston estate. He also owned property in Bampton, Oxfordshire, and Buckland Filleigh, Devon.
Books
Fortescue used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 11031); the extent of his library is not known. The bulk of his estate was inherited by his nephew Richard Fortescue.
