John LOWTHORP 1659-1724
Biographical Note
Born at Holderness, East Yorkshire, son of John Loothrop, clergyman. BA St John's College, Cambridge 1680, MA 1683. He is thought to have been a chaplain in the Navy in 1686; vicar of Tunstall in Holderness 1683, rector of Coston, Leicestershire 1686-89. He was elected a fellow of the Royal Society in 1702.

Lowthorp's library was sold by retail sale in London, together with that of Thomas Carew, beginning 27 February 1728.
