Sir Thomas ONSLOW, 2nd Baron Onslow 1679-1740
Biographical Note
Born in Surrey, England, son of Richard Onslow 1654-1717, 1st Baron Onslow and Elizabeth Tulse (1661-1718). Educated at Eton College from 1691 to 1693. He served as MP for Gatton (1702-1705), Chichester (1705-1708), Bletchingley (1708-1715), and Surrey (1715-1717). In 1717 he was awarded an LL.D from Cambridge University. Also in 1717, he succeeded as 2nd Baron Onslow upon the death of his father. He was a Teller of the Receipt of the Exchequer from 1718 until his death in 1740.
The Onslow family seat remains at Clandon Park, East and West Clandon, Surrey.

Used an early armorial bookplate, Franks 22346. The extent and disposition of his library is not known.
