Sergeant's will described him as "of the Tower of London, Esq".
Books
Sergeant's will makes no mention of his books, which were sold by auction in London from 2 March 1727. The sale was advertised in the Daily Journal and the Evening Post, the advertisements describing the "excellent books, in most faculties and languages; particularly in Classicks and History; and especially the History and Antiquities of Great Britain and Ireland".
