Anthony HALL 1679-1723

Biographical Note

Son of Henry Hall of Kirkbride, Cumberland. Attended Carlisle grammar school before matriculating at Queen's College, Oxford in 1698. BA 1701, MA 1704, fellow 1706. Shortly after gaining his MA, Hall began work as an antiquarian editor, publishing a number of editions of original manuscripts, including John Leland's Commentarii de scriptoribus Britannicis. In 1720 he became rector of Hampton Poyle, Oxfordshire. DD 1721.

Books

Hall's books were sold at retail sale in London from 25 April 1726. The sale was advertised in the Daily Post.
