Henry Cressener 1682-1709
Biographical Note
Born in Soham, Cambridgeshire, son of Drue Cressener (b.1657) and Faustina Plumtre. Admitted as a pensioner at Pembroke College, Cambridge in 1699, BA 1703/4, MA 1707, fellow 1705, FRS 1709 and died the same year.
Books
At least one of his books has been identified in the library of Pembroke College, Cambridge: D. Petauii Aurelianensis e Societate Iesu, Rationarium temporum... (Franeker, 1689).
Characteristic Markings
In the Pembroke College example, Cressener's name is written on front pastedown, with a College-supplied ex dono plate pasted underneath. Evidence of erased name (also Henry Cressener) immediately under legible one. Henry's name written on the back fly leaf, with a flourish and "Aul. Pem. Alum" underneath.
