Lewis PAU d.1709

Biographical Note

Physician in London, originally of Montpellier. His will opens with the statement that he was born there, and was an MD of the University of Montpellier; he had long lived in London, at the time of his will (1709) was living in the parish of St Andrew, Holborn. He was evidently a Huguenot refugee.

Books

In his will, Pau directed that all his goods, including his books, should be sold by his executors for the benefit of his "natural" son Lewis. His library was auctioned in London, 10.10.1709; the catalogue contained 1454 lots, divided only by language: Latin and Greek books (577 lots), French and Italian books (448), and English books (429).
