Gabriel ODINGSELLS or ODINSELLS 1690?-1734
Biographical Note
Born in London, son of Gabriel Odingsells. Matriculated at Pembroke, College, Oxford 1707, but did not graduate; he returned to London where he sought to develop a career as a playwright. His first play, The Bath unmask'd was staged in 1725, and several followed up to 1730, but he was not judged a literary success either by his contemporaries, or posterity. He committed suicide in 1734.
Books
Odingsells used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 22184). His library was sold by retail sale in London, 21.5.1734.
