Mary RICH, Countess of Warwick 1624-1678
Biographical Note
Born at Cork, Ireland, daughter of Richard Boyle, 1st Earl of Cork (1566-1643). She married Charles Rich, 4th Earl of Warwick and lived at the earl's household at Leighs, Essex. Mary played an active role in her local community and donated much of her income to charitable causes.
Books
Rich authored various spiritual and autobiographical works; her manuscript diaries, (British Library Add MS 27351-5) contain extensive references to her reading in her closet.
