Biographical Note

Master of Balliol College, Oxford, and vice-chancellor 1715. Buried in the Balliol Chapel.

Books

Baron's library was by retail sale in London beginning 13 July 1722. Advertisements in the Daily Journal and other newspapers describe the sale as containing 'a very curious Parcel of Antient Editions of the Classicks, Books of Medals, Sculptures, Architecture, &c. Collected in Italy. Also a Collection of very curious and uncommon Books relating to the History and Parliamentary Proceedings, &c. of Great Britain and Ireland, of the History of several Foreign Countries; of Painting, Medals, Husbandry, Trade, Voyages, Law, Divinity, Physick, Poetry, and Classicks, of the most curious and uncommon Editions, printed by Aldus, Old Elzevir, &c. with several in the Year 1400. In Greek, Latin, English, Italian, Spanish, and French'.
