Sir Jonathan TRELAWNY or TRELAWNEY, 3rd Baronet, 1650-1721

Biographical Note

Son of Sir Jonathan Trelawny, 2nd Baronet, of Berry Pomeroy, Devon. Attended Westminster School from 1663 and graduated BA from Christ Church College, Oxford1672, MA 1675. [[occupation::royal chaplain-extraordinary|Royal chaplain-extraordinary] from 1677. Bishop of Exeter 1689-1706, Bishop of Winchester 1707 until his death.

Books

Part of Trelawney's library was sold by retail sale in London from 26 April 1722, alongside those of Sir Edward Turnor. Advertisements in the Post Boy and other newspapers describe the sale items as 'a large Collection of the most scarce and curious Books, relating to the History, Antiquities, Constitution and Parliamentary Proceedings of Great Britain and Ireland; as also Architecture, Medals, Husbandry, Trade, &c.', and a list of a selection of the most valuable titles is provided.
