Cooke has not been identified, but the sale catalogue of his library describes him as 'the late learned Dr. John Cooke sen. Of the city of Bristol.
Books
Cooke's library was sold at auction in Bristol on 26 February 1722. The printed catalogue describes the sale as 'Containing many scarce and valuable Books in Divinity, Physick, History, &c. With a Curious Collection of the Best Editions of the Classicks'. The catalogue divides the volumes, which near 2000 in number, under headings denoting subject and format.
