Books

Malthus' brief will makes no mention of his books, but leaves all his possessions to his wife, who was also his executrix. His library was sold by retail sale in London from 21 June 1721, alongside that of an unnamed gentleman. Advertisements in the Daily Journal and other newspapers describe the sale as 'Consisting of History, Divinity, Physick, Mathematicks, Voyages, Travels, Romances, &c', provide a list of some 37 titles, and indicate that over 500 items are included in the sale.
