Grace SACKVILLE or BOYLE, Countess of Middlesex 1723-1763
Biographical Note
Daughter of Richard Boyle, 2nd Viscount Shannon. In 1740 she inherited from him the family seat of Ashley Park, Surrey and in 1744 she married Charles Sackville, Earl of Middlesex and later 2nd Duke of Dorset. She was mistress of the robes to the Princess of Wales from 1747 and was an artist, to whom some surviving paintings are attributed.
Books
Before her marriage, she used an engraved armorial bookplate (on a lozenge, displaying her father's arms - Franks 3412). The extent of her library is not known.
