Biographical Note
Son of Edward Browne, of West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Matriculated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge 1738, though his graduation is not recorded; vicar of Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire 1747-53, of Alford, Lincolnshire 1753-69.
Books
Browne used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 4081); the extent of his library is not known. His will has no mention of books; after monetary bequests to his wife, most of his property was divided equally between his sons Edward and John.
