Edward HAWFORD d.1581/2

Biographical Note

Son of Thomas Hawford of Clipston, Northamptonshire. BA Jesus College 1542/3, fellow, MA 1545, B.D. 1554, master from 1559 and D.D. in 1564. Served as proctor from 1552-3, and Vice-Chancellor from 1563-4. It is said that he played a major role in the framing of the University Statutes in 1570.

Books

Hawford's probate inventory includes over 115 books, valued at £30 7s 3d (from a total estate valued at £113 3s 1d). The books are mostly in Latin, with some English. The books were predominantly theological in nature. The full inventory is edited as Leedham-Green no.147 (see full citation below).
