Martin PARKINSON ca.1538-1569
Biographical Note
BA Trinity College, Cambridge 1559, fellow from 1560, MA 1562, BD 1569. He was appointed a university preacher in 1566 and Archdeacon of the East Riding of Yorkshire in 1568.
Books
Parkinson's probate inventory includes over 215 books, valued at £33 17s 4d (from a total estate valued at £48 1s 5d). The books are mostly in Latin, with some Greek and Hebrew, with a predominance of theology alongside some classics, law, mathematics and other subjects. He bequeathed a chosen book to 18 of his colleagues, and left the residue of his estate to his siblings. The full inventory is edited as Leedham-Green no.132 (see full citation below).
