BA Peterhouse, Cambridge 1559, fellow there from 1559, MA 1562.

An inventory of Layton's goods, which may or may not be a probate inventory, includes ca.95 books, valued at £8 2s (from a total estate valued at just over £10 10s). The books are mostly in Latin, with a mixture of theology, philosophy, classics, law, mathematics and other topics. The full inventory is edited as Leedham-Green no.121 (see full citation below).
