John SALT d.1558

Biographical Note

BA St John's College, Cambridge 1547, fellow there from 1547, MA 1549; he moved to a fellowship at Pembroke College in 1555.

Books

Salt's probate inventory includes ca.90 books, valued at £8 1s 2d (from a total estate valued at £17 15s 4d). The books are mostly in Latin, with some Greek and Hebrew, with a predominance of theology alongside some philosophy, classics, medicine and other topics. His will has no mention of books, and most of his goods passed to his brother Robert. The full inventory is edited as Leedham-Green no.96 (see full citation below).
