John VINCENT d.1558

Biographical Note

MA Gonville Hall, Cambridge 1546, fellow of the newly refounded Gonville and Caius College 1555, BD 1556.

Books

Vincent's probate inventory includes ca.75 books, valued at £9 4s 3d (from a total estate valued at £39 7s 11d). The books are mostly in Latin, with a predominance of theology (mostly patristics). He directed that his books be sold to defray his debts, save for a copy of St Augustine's works to be given to his executor (Thomas Burre); he bequeathed any residue of his estate to the college. The full inventory is edited as Leedham-Green no.76 (see full citation below).
