Michael BURKE 10th Earl of Clanricarde, 1686-1726

Biographical Note

Son of John Burke, 9th Earl of Clanricarde, and educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford. He was appointed Governor of Galway in 1712 and invested as a Irish Privy Counsellor in 1726.

Books

Used an engraved bookplate (Franks 3195): Bourk, Earl of Clanrickard. It is not certain which Earl of Clanricarde first used this bookplate; it is not the bookplate of his son John Smith De Burgh, the 11th earl.

The extent and disposition of his library is not known.
