John BERNARD d.1554
Biographical Note
Born in Yorkshire. BA Queens' College, Cambridge 1544, fellow 1545, MA 1547; he was bursar of the college in the early 1550s. His Oratio pia, religiosa, et solatii plena, published after his death in 1568, demonstrates his support for the protestant reformation.
Books
Bernard's probate inventory includes ca.130 books, valued at £15 2s 9d (from a total estate valued at nearly £45). The books are mostly in Latin, with some in Greek or English, and include theology, philosophy, classics and other subjects.
