BA Christ's College, Cambridge 1544, MA 1547, fellow and bursar of Peterhouse from 1547 until his death.

Books

Townley's probate inventory includes ca.55 volumes, valued at £1 6s 2d (from a total estate valued at £3 4s 10d). The books are largely in Latin, and cover a range of subjects including philosophy, classics, medicine and law. The full inventory is edited as Leedham-Green no.41 (see full citation below).
