Biographical Note
Born at Northaw, Hertfordshire, son of Sir George Hutchins, a wealthy lawyer and MP. Matriculated at Clare College, Cambridge 1718, but did not graduate. Little else is known of his life; his will, in which he describes himself "of Chelsea", reveals property holdings in Huntingdonshire and London.
Books
Hutchins used an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks (15836). The extent of his library is not known; in his will, which has no specific mention of books, he left all his property to his wife Mary, having no children.
