Biographical Note
Son of Sir Thomas Putt, 1st bart, of Combe, Devon, MP, from whom he inherited the title and family estates in 1686. MA Trinity College, Cambridge 1692, after which he seems to have spent the remainder of his life as a country gentleman.
Books
Putt's will has no mention of books; he had no son to inherit the baronetcy, which became extinct after his death, and his estates and property were left to trustees with instructions to distribute money around various family members, and also to endow a school at Gittisham. His library was auctioned in Exeter, beginning 6 May 1728; no catalogue survives, but the sale was advertised in Brice's Weekly Journal.
