Sir William DICK, 2nd bart 1701-1746

Biographical Note

Son of William Cunningham of Caprington, Ayrshire. In 1728 he inherited the estates and title of his grandfather Sir James Dick, 1st bart, of Prestonfield, Edinburgh and changed his name to Dick.

Books

Dick used an engraved armorial bookplate, made after his inheritance of the baronetcy in 1728 (Franks 8610). The extent and disposition of his library is not known; the baronetcy was inherited by his brother Alexander who became a prominent Edinburgh physician.
