Biographical Note
All that has been traced of this man is that a was a relative of Charles Smith, 3rd Viscount Carrington, and that in the death of the Dowager Viscountess in 1748 he inherited the Carrington estate of Wootton Hall, Warwickshire. He then changed his name to Carrington, but died the following year, leaving an unmarried daughter, and then his sisters, to inherit the property.
Books
After the change of name, he commissioned an engraved armorial bookplate (Franks 5129); the extent and fate of his library is not known.
