John LEAMAN fl.1669-1671

Biographical Note

Insufficient evidence has been found so far to establish any confident identification of this owner, whose ‘flourished’ dates are derived from the details noticed below. He might have been one John Leaman of the parish of St Dunstans-in-the-West, London, who had premises in Chancery Lane, whose will of 1673/4 mentions ‘Books’ amongst the personal estate passing to his wife Mary.

Characteristic Markings

Lee 182 records a book label ‘John Leaman his Book. July 12. 1669’, and an instance of its alteration to the year 1671.
