David WEMYSS 4th earl of Wemyss, 1678-1720
Biographical Note
The eldest son of Margaret, countess of Wemyss and Cromartie (1659–1705), only surviving daughter of David Wemyss, 2nd earl. He succeeded his mother in 1705 and entered the Scottish Parliament in the same year. He was named one of the commissioners for the treaty of Union with England and subsequently was chosen as one of the sixteen representative Scottish peers in the Parliment of Great Britain. He also held office as vice-admiral of Scotland.
