John DARELL d.1739

Biographical Note

Born at Lamberhurst, Kent, son of Nathaniel Darell. A member of the family branch based at Little Chart Scotney castle, in Lamberhurst, with strong ties to Catholicism. He married Olivia Smythe, second daughter of Philip, 2nd Viscount Strangford of Co. Down, and sent six sons to study at the Jesuit College of St Omers.
