Biographical Note
Son of Edward Montagu, 3rd Earl of Sandwich and Elizabeth (Wilmot). Admitted Fellow-Commoner at Trinity College, Cambridge, 1706. Held various military posts, including, from 1717, colonel of the 37th Foot. MP for Huntingdon 1713-22 and for Huntingdonshire 1722. Married Elizabeth Popham.
Books
He had an engraved armorial bookplate: Franks 20800; *517 (another impression).
